Sierra de Tolono Nahikun Tinto
This wine comes from 80 year old tempranillo vines that have been harvested on five different microcells in Villabuena de Alava. The aging of this takes place over a year in used french oak barrels. There are notes of violet and subtle oak, with a backbone of tannin and acidity. A must have!
Sierra de Toloño wines come from vines grown on calcareous clay are at 650m in Labastida – one of the highest vineyards of the Rioja region. The mountains of the Sierra de Toloño protect the vines from northerly winds and create a special microclimate, cold because it is so high, but dry with the Mediterranean influence. These conditions are perfect for the grapes to ripen fully over a long period of time. The ripeness comes slowly, retaining natural acidity.
